Curry puff is a Malaysian and Singaporean snack. It
is a small pie consisting of specialized curry with beef or chicken and
potatoes in a deep-fried pastry shell. The curry is especially thick and
rich to prevent itself from running. This snack can easily be found at road
side stalls, mamak stalls or even Kopi Dian (Coffee Shop).
Many versions of the Curry Puff have evolved. The Malay version (Epok-epok)
is smaller and usually filled with curried potato, or canned sardines. The
Chinese version is larger, and usually contains potato and chicken curry,
with some versions, including half a boiled egg. |
