“Bahulu” is a
traditional Malay cake made from a mixture of egg, sugar and flour.
It baked using a specifically-made mould in a preheated oven with
charcoal fire. You have to place the hot coals on top of and under
the mould. But nowadays, people prefer to use electrical ovens as
they are a lot more convenient.
Kueh Bahulu is light and fluffy and tastes slightly dry. Kueh Bahulu
comes in different shapes, but the popular ones are the goldfish and
the button. Although it is a Malay cake but now it is popular among
all Malaysians. Especially during Chinese New Year, Kueh Bahulu
already becomes a very popular food. |
