Rojak, which means “wild mix” or “combination of ingredients” in Malay, is a fruit and vegetable salad dish commonly found in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. It is always a good snack food or starter during high teas. This scrumptious, appetite-stimulating result has many dimensions of taste and texture - sweet, salty, hot, pungent, tangy, crisp, and juicy.

Fruit Rojak
Fruit rojak is built on a vibrant assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables, the ingredients may include pineapple, cucumber, sweet turnip, water spinach, green apple, beansprouts, water apple, green mango and guava. Some vendors also add in tau pok (deep-fried soybean cakes), you tiao (fried Chinese dough fritters), a generous sprinkle of finely chopped roasted peanuts, and occasional small pieces of cuttlefish. A dressing of seasoned fermented prawn paste, sugar, tamarind pulp and fresh lime juice is mixed up and poured over the lot, and everything is tossed together.

Indian Rojak
Indian rojak contains fried dough fritters, boiled potatoes, prawn fritters, hard boiled eggs, bean sprouts and cucumber mixed with a thick, spicy peanut sauce.
