Kaya (coconut egg jam) means 'wealthy' or 'rich' in Malay. It is a sweet spread made from coconut milk, egg, sugar, and pandan leaves. It is sweet and creamy. Kaya toast is the combination of Kaya and butter spreading on two pieces of toasted bread separately, and serve together like a sandwich. Alternatively, the Kaya and butter or margarine can be spread on the same slice of bread.
